Dr. Joseph Lehman completed his undergraduate work at The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. He graduated from The Ohio State College of Optometry in 2020, receiving both Doctor of Optometry and Master of Science in Vision Science degrees. His Master’s thesis entitled, Spherocylindrical Subjective Refraction with Spherical Lenses, studied an alternative subjective refraction technique. He presented his research in 2018 at the annual American Academy of Optometry meeting. In 2019 he completed his advanced practice externship in Sandusky Ohio, and disease externship at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System in Tucson Arizona.
During his training he was awarded the Ocular Instruments Award for Clinical Excellence and was a member of the optometric honor society Beta Sigma Kappa and optometric fraternity Epsilon Psi Epsilon. Upon graduation he was awarded The Dr. Lyle Aloysius John Gassmann Memorial Award, honoring the graduate who best exemplifies humanitarian characteristics, leadership qualities, and service to others, and The Vincent J Ellerbrock Memorial Award, recognizing his research work in vision science.
Dr. Lehman is excited to practice full scope optometry at Indiana Eye Care, serving individuals of all ages and their visual needs. In his free time, Dr. Lehman enjoys hiking, cooking, music and playing basketball and cheering on the Buckeyes and St. Louis Cardinals.
