Biography
Dr. Bateson graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2003. Dr. Bateson held honors in Clinical Practice and Pediatrics upon graduation. She is a past president of the Pennsylvania Optometric Association, a prestigious position elected to by her peers. Dr. Bateson is also an active member of the American Optometric Association.
In 2008, Dr. Bateson was awarded Pennsylvania’s Young Optometrist of the Year. In 2014, she was also awarded Southwestern Pennsylvania Optometrist of the Year. Dr. Bateson is an affiliate of TLC Lasik Vision Correction and had LASIK herself in 2003.
Prior to graduation at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry Dr. Bateson completed her internship in four locations and specialties; Pediatrics in Denver, Colorado, Eye Disease at both the Lebanon VA Hospital and Laurel Eye Clinic in Altoona, PA, and Low Vision at Salus University. In addition, Dr. Bateson attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) receiving a bachelor’s degree in Natural Science Pre-Optometry Track and graduated from Penns Manor Jr. Sr. High School.
Dr. Bateson prides herself in being the only board certified Optometrist in Indiana County. Board Certification is a voluntary process that demonstrates a Doctor of Optometry exceeds the basic requirements and is maintaining the appropriate knowledge, skills and experience to deliver quality eye care. Maintaining board certification requires additional education and training annually.
Dr. Bateson enjoys spending time with her husband and their two children. Dr. Bateson is active participating in adventure triathlons and half marathons, and also enjoys snowboarding, biking and travel.
